Guaranteed Rate Field will play host to a Wednesday night MLB interleague battle between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago White Sox. The Pirates (48-84) have dropped 46 of their 66 road games and are sitting in last place in the NL Central Division. Last night, Pittsburgh SP Bryce Wilson (2-6) was tagged for four runs in five innings during a 4-2 road loss.
Once highly-touted prospect Mitch Keller (4-10 6.75 ERA) has yet to put things together at the major league level. In his last start, Keller gave up seven runs in five plus innings during an 11-7 home victory versus St. Louis.
The Chicago White Sox are 21 games above .500 at home and hold a comfortable ten game lead over second place Cleveland. During Tuesday’s victory, All-Star 1B Jose Abreu hit his 28th home run and scored twice. C Yasmani Grandal also went deep and reached base three times for the White Sox (77-56).
The White Sox will turn to talented left-hander Carlos Rodon (10-5 2.43 ERA) in the series finale. Through 114 plus innings, Rodon has struck out 163 batters and owns a sparkling 0.97 WHIP.
