The Pittsburgh Pirates continue their three-game series on the road Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Pirates were able to snap a three-game losing streak on Sunday with a 7-1 win over the Chicago Cubs before heading for Monday’s opening game with Arizona. Josh Harrison had a leadoff home run and Gregory Polanco hit a triple with the based loaded to lead the Pittsburgh attack.
Arizona won its third straight on Sunday downing the Colorado Rockies 8-3 and maintaining their 2 ½-game lead at the top of the National League West over Dodgers and Giants. Paul Goldschmidt continued his hot hitting with a triple and double and two RBIs to help the D-Backs sweep the Rockies at Coors Field
Corey Dickerson leads Pittsburgh with a .319 batting average and team high 73 hits. Francisco Cervelli leads the team in home runs with nine and RBIs with 35. Pittsburgh has a team batting average of .252 while opposing hitters are averaging .251 at the plate against Pirates pitching. On Tuesday, the Pirates will send Trevor Williams to the mound.
