Last Updated: 08/07/2019 at 7:42 AM ET

NL East Division rivals will clash on Wednesday night, when the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals wrap up their series from Nationals Park. Last night, Jean Segura cleared the bases with a three-run double to spark Philadelphia to an 8-2 victory. SP Zach Eflin fanned nine batters over five scoreless frames to earn the win.

Twenty-five year old righty Aaron Nola (1-0 1.50 ERA) has emerged as the ace of the Philadelphia staff. Nola was an All-Star last season and struck out eight batters in a season opening 10-4 victory versus Atlanta. The Washington Nationals lost Bryce Harper in free agency to Philadelphia and watched him club an eighth-inning home run on Tuesday. SP Max Scherzer allowed two runs and struck out nine batters across five innings. Anthony Rendon’s sixth inning two-run shot was the only offense for the Nationals.

Thirty-five year old righty Anibal Sanchez (7-6 2.83 ERA) will make his season debut for the Braves. Sanchez has logged over 1700 career major league innings, while posting a 3.99 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.

Washington SS Trea Turner left last night’s game after being hit in the hand and his status for this contest is uncertain. Last season, Philadelphia ranked 22nd in OPS and 22nd in runs scored. Washington ranked 8th in OPS and 8th in runs scored a season ago. Take the under on Wednesday. Final Score Prediction, Philadelphia Phillies win low scoring under game 3-2.
