Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins 9/15/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

In Thursday night MLB action, the Philadelphia Phlllies will wrap up their series with the Miami Marlins from loanDepot Park.  The Phillies (80-62) are riding a five-game winning streak and are currently in second place in the NL Wild Card standings. Last night, All-Star C J.T. Realmuto homered twice and drove in four runs to power Philadelphia to a 6-1 road victory.

Thirty year old right-hander Noah Syndergaard (9-9 4.09 ERA) has been a quality midseason acquisition for the Phillies. Last time out, Syndergaard allowed three runs in six innings during a 5-3 home victory versus Washington.

The Miami Marlins have dropped seven of their previous ten games and their anemic offense has been their downfall. On Wednesday, Miami did not record a single extra-base knock out of their eight hits and was retired by strikes 11 times. SP Edwin Cabrera (5-3) gave up two runs in five plus innings and took the loss for the Marlins, who fell to 58-85 on the year.

Miami manager Don Mattingly will turn to talented right-hander Pablo Lopez (8-10 4.04 ERA) on Thursday. In his last start, Lopez was tagged for eight runs and recorded just eight outs during an 11-3 home loss versus New York.

Philadelphia OF Nick Castellanos is currently on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain. Through 142 games, Philadelphia ranks 6th in OPS and 7th in runs scored. For the season, Miami ranks 27th in OPS and 27th in runs scored. Take the under. Final Score Prediction, Philadelphia Phillies win 4-2.
