In Sunday afternoon MLB action, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins will play the opening game of a doubleheader from Marlins Park. Last night, SS Didi Gregorius connected on a first inning grand slam to power Philadelphia to a 12-6 road victory. OF Bryce Harper also went deep and scored three runs for the Phillies, who improved to 23-20 on the year.

Twenty-six year old righty Zach Elfin (2-1 4.58 ERA) will take the mound for the Phillies in this matchup. Philadelphia has won each of Eflin’s last five starts and he has allowed 15 runs over his last 27 plus frames.

The Miami Marlins have dropped 11 of their 15 home games and are trying to remain in playoff contention. On Saturday, Miami SP Jose Urena (0-1) was charged with five runs in four plus innings and took the loss. Jesus Aguilar homered and scored three runs for the Marlins (21-21), who are four games out of first place. 

Miami manager Don Mattingly has yet to name a starting pitcher for Sunday. The Marlins have a talented, young staff and rank 19th in the majors with a 4.76 team ERA.

Philadelphia OF Roman Quinn has landed on the 7-day concussion injured list. Through 43 games, Philadelphia ranks 7th in OPS and 7th in runs scored.
