The Philadelphia Phillies will look to continue their solid recent play when they go on the road to Chase Field to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Philadelphia has won four of their alst five games after winning the final two against Cincinnati and the first two against Pittsburgh, improving to 72-56 which leaves them in the NL Wildcard if the season ended today. Arizona swept the White Sox in their last series, but remains out of the playoff picture and 29 games back in the NL West.

Philadelphia has rallied in the second half of the season and continued to move up the offensive rankings, now averaging 4.63 runs per game ranking 7th in the league. Kyle Schwarber has continued to produce and leads the team with 35 home runs, the second most in the MLB, and 73 RBIs. Bryce Harper has missed almost sixty games but when he’s out there he’s hitting .317 with 15 home runs.

The ace right-hander Aaron Nola will get the start for the Phillies he continues to eat innings for this Phillies rotation. Nola has worked through 166.2 innings across his 25 starts, posting a 3.08 ERA, and has the fifth most strikeouts in baseball with 185. Nola is coming off his best start of the season, a real gem pitching a complete game shutout allowing just five hits and striking out 11.

Arizona is a middle-of-the-pack offense scoring 4.33 runs per game which ranks 16th in the league in scoring offense. But they’ll have their hands full with Nola on the mound. First baseman Chrstian Walker has led the team in home runs (30) and RBIs (72), it’s been by far his best season since 2019 and even those numbers have been shattered in a career year.

Zac Gallen will get the start for the Diamondbacks, who although has been around the league for a long time, this is just his second full season at the big league level. Gallen has answered with an impressive season going 9-2 with a 2.66 ERA and 0.97 WHIP, both of which are top-10 in the MLB. Gallen pitched six scoreless innings in his last start allowing just three hits and striking out six in a 5-3 loss to the Royals.

Philadelphia is a better team on paper and even on the road is a marginal favorite in this contest. But we’re riding with the home dog in this game. The Phillies played excellent in their long home stretch against the Pirates and Reds, but this game is on the road and the Diamondbacks are a better team than those two. We like the value with the underdog Diamondbacks to upset the Phillies at home. Final score prediction, Diamondbacks win 4-3.
