Padres at Nationals 5/23/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Padres and the Nationals are getting ready to mix it up on Wednesday night in the final game of their 3 game set. The Padres ended up dropping the first game to the Nationals and the Padres may not have even shown up in the stadium, which is how bad the Padres were dominated in the game.

Offensively the Padres are ranked 24th in the run scoring with a total of 187 runs being scored. The Padres hitting average is not the best with an average of .227 which is ranked 28th. The Padres have a team ERA that is sitting at 4.23 which is ranked 16th in the majors.

With the Nationals the team is doing okay on the run scoring and is currently tied for 12th in the majors with 209 runs being scored. The hitting for the Nationals is not that good as the Nationals have only managed to get a hit at a .238 which is ranked 19th. The Nationals have a team ERA that is sitting at 3.48 and that is ranked 7th. Only one of the starting pitchers is projected already as the Nationals are not really sure who to run out to the mound yet. The Nationals have been shuffling up the starting rotation lately and it is showing as they have not yet disclosed who may start on Wednesday.

The Padres, though, have decided to send out Tyson Ross in the game. Ross on the year has thrown a total of 53.2 innings on the season with a total of 55 strikeouts while posting a 3-3 record and has an ERA that sits at 3.35.

The Nationals showed they can dominate a poorly playing team like they did to open up this series. Look for the Nationals to be able to do more of the same as Ross is a decent pitcher, but the Nationals offense, weak as it is, is stronger than the Padres. Look for the Nationals to pick up a win here 5-3.
