The San Diego Padres play the second game of a three-game series in South Florida against the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
The Padres were off Thursday after beating the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday 3-1. Five Padres relievers combined to hold the Braves to just four hits in the win. The Padres were victorious at home in two of the three games against the Braves.
Miami was handcuffed by Miles Mikolas who allowed just one unearned run in seven innings, as St. Louis beat the Marlins 4-1. Trevor Richards took the loss for Miami to drop to 0-3 on the season. Justin Bour knocked in Miami’s only run with an RBI double during the sixth inning.
Eric Hosmer leads San Diego with a .285 batting average. Christian Villanueva leads the team in home runs with 15 and RBIs with 35. Jose Pirela has a team high 67 hits. San Diego has a team batting average of .233 while opposing hitters are averaging .258 at the plate against Padres pitching. On Saturday, the Padres will send Tyson Ross to the mound.
