Thirty-four year old southpaw Clayton Richard (4-6 4.67 ERA) will take the mound for the Padres in this matchup. San Diego has won each of Richard’s last two starts and he has allowed five runs over his last 14 frames.
The Miami Marlins have dropped seven of their last ten games and are in last place in the NL East Division standings. Miami took the series opener by a 4-0 final score but managed just seven hits during Saturday’s loss. Derek Dietrich homered and drove in two runs for the Marlins, who are 18 games below .500 overall.
Twenty-six year old righty Jose Urena (1-7 4.60 ERA) will head to the hill for the Marlins on Sunday. Through 74 plus innings this season, Urena has fanned 61 batters and owns a 1.24 WHIP.
