SP Jordan Lyles (2-4) was the hard luck loser after allowing just one run over seven strong innings for the Padres, who are five games below .500 overall.
San Diego manager Andy Green has yet to name a starting pitcher for this contest. The Padres rank 17th in team ERA at 4.12 runs allowed per game and 21st in batting average allowed.
The Atlanta Braves have won 41 of their first 70 games and are the surprise leaders of the NL East Division standings. On Saturday, SP Sean Newcomb allowed two hits and fanned seven batters over six frames to improve his record to 8-2 on the year. Charlie Culberson hit a fifth inning solo shot for the Braves, who lead Washington by 2.5 games for first place.
Twenty-seven year old righty Julio Teheran (4-4 4.31 ERA) will return from a thumb injury to pitch the series finale for Atlanta. Teheran lost three straight starts before heading to the disabled list and allowed nine runs over his last 16 innings of work.
