Last Updated: 08/07/2019 at 7:40 AM ET

The Saturday MLB schedule will get underway with a matchup between the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees from the Bronx.

The Orioles lost the fifth most games in major league history a season ago and turned to former Cubs’ bench coach Brandon Hyde to replace longtime skipper Buck Showalter. On Opening Day, Baltimore SP Andrew Cashner was tagged for six runs in four innings of a 7-2 loss against New York.

Thirty-one year old righty Nate Karns will take the ball for the Orioles as an opener on Saturday. Karns, who missed all of last season with an elbow injury, owns a 4.37 career ERA. The New York Yankees have won a major league record 27 World Series Championships and are the favorites to win it all this season. On Thursday, DH Luke Voit got the Bronx Bombers started with a three-run blast in the first inning. Aaron Judge reached based four times and scored three runs for the Yankees.

Thirty year old southpaw James Paxton (11-6 3.76 ERA) will make his first start in pinstripes. Paxton, who pitched with Seattle last season, owns a career 3.42 ERA and 1.19 WHIP.

New York OF Aaron Hicks (back) will remain in extended Spring Training and is expected to return by mid-April. Last season, Baltimore ranked 26th in OPS and 27th in runs scored. New York counters with an offense that ranked 2nd in OPS and runs scored. There is value on Baltimore facing a pitcher making his first home start. Final Score Prediction, Baltimore Orioles 5-3.
