Oakland Athletics at Colorado Rockies 6/6/21 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Oakland Athletics complete a three-game interleague series on the road at Coors Field on Sunday against the Colorado Rockies. Oakland is 34-25 following a 9-5 victory over Colorado in the opening game of the series on Friday. Sean Murphy and Mark Canha each hit home runs to help lead the A’s to the victory. Oakland leads the American League West by one game over the second-place Houston Astros.

First baseman Matt Olson is batting .277 to lead Oakland and has the team lead in home runs with 14 and RBIs with 38. Left fielder Mark Canha is the leader in hits with 53 and on-base percentage at .390. Oakland has hit 75 home runs in its first 59 games. On Sunday, Oakland will send James Kaprielian to the mound. The right-hander is 2-0 with an ERA of 2.95, 22 Ks and 7 BBs. 

With its loss in the opening game of the series to Oakland on Friday, Colorado dropped to 23-35. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Rockies but Colorado has lost six of the last 10 overall. The Rockies are fourth in the National League West 13 ½ games behind the first place San Francisco Giants. Colorado continues to struggle on the mound as Colorado has a team ERA of 4.75, which is 25th in baseball.

Raimel Tapia is batting .278 to lead Colorado and the left fielder has a team high 58 hits. Second baseman Ryan McMahon is leading Colorado in home runs with 13 and RBIs with 32, while right fielder Charlie Blackmon is the leader in on-base percentage at .368. On Sunday, Colorado will send German Marquez to the mound. The right-hander is 3-5 with an ERA of 41.3, 69 Ks and 33 BBs.

Oakland is first in the American League West, while Colorado is fourth in the National League West, but the Rockies have dominated this head-to-head series winning six of the last eight between the two. Colorado has won four of its last five overall and six of the last seven at home. Rockies German Marquez is coming off a strong outing in which the right-hander allowed one run on two hits over seven innings in a game the Rockies won 3-2 in 11 Innings but Marquez did not take part in the decision.
