NY Mets at Atlanta Braves 8/3/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

In Monday night MLB action, the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves will wrap up their four-game series from Truist Park. On Sunday, New York went 1-for-15 with RISP and struck out 12 times during a 4-0 loss. SP David Peterson (1-1) was charged with the loss after giving up three runs in six innings for the Mets, who fell to 3-7 on the year. 

Reigning Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom (0-0 1.64 ERA) will make his third start of the season for the Mets. Through 11 innings of work, deGrom has fanned 12 batters and posted a stellar 0.55 WHIP.

The Atlanta Braves are riding a five game winning streak and have outscored New York 22-11 through the first three games of this series. Yesterday, 3B Johan Comargo connected on his first home run of the season and 1B Freddie Freeman drove in a pair of runs. OF Ronald Acuna Jr. scored a run and plated another for the Braves (7-3), who moved to 5-0 at home.

The Braves will turn to twenty-two year old righty Mike Soroka (0-0 1.59 ERA) in the series finale. On Opening Day, Soroka tossed six scoreless innings during a 1-0 road loss against deGrom and the Mets.

New York OF Yoenis Cespedes did not show up to Truist Park for Sunday’s game and has decided to opt out of the season. Through ten games, New York ranks 6th in OPS and 14th in runs scored.
