NY Mets at Atlanta Braves 8/1/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The New York Mets play the second game of the three-game series against National League East rival the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. New York fell 3-4 following a 4-2 loss on Thursday to the Boston Red Sox. Steven Matz suffered the loss and fell to 0-1. Jeff McNeil knocked in both Mets runs in the third inning with a two-run single, but New York could not push any more runs across the plate against the Red Sox the rest of the way. 

Jeff McNeil is leading the Mets in hitting with a batting average .308 and and hits with eight. Yoenis Cespedes is leading the Mets in home runs with two, while Dominic Smith is leading in RBIs with five. On Saturday, the Mets will send Michael Wacha to the mound. The right-hander is 1-0 with an ERA of 1.80, 4 Ks and 1 BBs.

Atlanta won its second straight and improved to 4-3 following a 2-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. Max Fried retired the first 14 hitters he faced and combined with three relievers to four-hit Tampa Bay. With the victory, the Braves are now tied for first place in the National League East with the Miami Marlins.

Dansby Swanson is leading Atlanta in hitting with a batting average of .370, in home runs with two, in RBIs with nine and in hits with 10. Marcell Ozuna has also hit two home runs for the Braves. Atlanta has not yet announced its starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the New York Mets.

Atlanta won two straight against the highly respected Tampa Bay Rays and has won six of its last eight on its home field against the New York Mets. New York lost two straight to the Boston Red Sox before heading to Atlanta and has lost five of its last seven overall. FInal Score Prediction, Atlanta Braves win 5-2.
