AL East Division rivals will clash on Monday night, when the New York Yankees invade the Rogers Centre to take on the Toronto Blue Jays. The Yankees (94-58) are riding a seven-game winning streak and hold an 8.5 game cushion over the Blue Jays for first place. Last night, New York SP Nestor Cortes (11-4) limited Boston to one hit during a 1-0 rain shortened home victory.

Twenty-eight year old righty Luis Severino (6-3 3.36 ERA) will take the mound for the Yankees in this matchup. New York has won Severino’s last three starts and he has allowed five runs over his last 13 frames.

The Toronto Blue Jays have won 43 of their 75 home games and sit atop the AL Wild Card standings. On Sunday, Toronto OF George Springer crushed two of his team’s four home runs during a 7-1 road triumph against Tampa Bay. SP Ross Stripling (9-4) allowed one run across five solid frames to earn the win for the Blue Jays, who improved to 86-67 on the season.

The Blue Jays will counter with hard-throwing righty Kevin Gausman (12-10 3.32 ERA) on Monday. Through 165 plus innings, Gausman has struck out 194 batters and owns a solid 1.24 WHIP.

Tampa Bay 3B Yandy Diaz has missed six consecutive games with a sore shoulder and is listed as day-to-day. Through 152 games, New York ranks 4th in OPS and 2nd in runs scored. For the season, Toronto ranks 3rd in OPS and 6th in runs scored. Take the under. Final Score Prediction, Toronto Blue Jays win 4-2.
