New York Yankees at Texas Rangers 10/4/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

In the first game of a Tuesday doubleheader, the New York Yankees will take on the Texas Rangers from Globe Life Field. The Yankees (98-61) have won eight of their last 11 games and will be the number two seed in the American League playoffs. Last night, DH Giancarlo Stanton mashed a 457-foot home run during a 3-1 road victory against Texas.

Thirty year old right-hander Jameson Taillon (14-5 3.83 ERA) has been a stabilizing force in the New York rotation. The Yankees have won four of Taillon’s last five starts and he has allowed 11 runs over his last 30 plus frames.

The Texas Rangers displayed their willingness to spend during the offseason, but that did not translate to on field results. During Monday's home loss, Texas batters were limited to two hits and struck out nine times. SP Martin Perez (12-8) gave up one run in six innings and was the hard-luck loser for the Rangers (66-93), who have lost five straight.

Texas interim manager Tony Beasley has yet to name a starting pitcher for this game. The Rangers rank 22nd in the majors with a 4.25 team ERA and have logged 48 quality starts.

New York 3B Matt Carpenter is recovering from a fractured left foot and could return for the postseason. Through 159 games, New York ranks 4th in OPS and 2nd in runs scored. For the season, Texas ranks 20th in OPS and 12th in runs scored. Take the under. Final Score Prediction, New York Yankees win 4-2.
