New York Yankees at Los Angeles Angels 8/30/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions
The New York Yankees will look to turn around a sluggish couple of months when they go on the road to Angel Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Angels. The Yankees lost back-to-back games to the Oakland Athletics, dropping to 78-50 which leaves them 7.5 games ahead in the AL East. The Angels have been maybe the most disappointing teams in baseball, they’re 55-73 and well out of the playoff picture.
New York still has one of the best offenses in the MLB averaging 5 runs per game which ranks second in the league in scoring offense. Right fielder Aaron Judge, who is in the last year of his deal, has been the best player in baseball with a league-high 49 home runs and 109 RBIs. The rest of the offense has had ups and downs, especially lately, but this is still one of the best offenses in the league.
The right-handed Jameson Taillon will get the start for the Yankees and he’s been strong this season going 12-4 with a 3.89 ERA. Taillon had a great outing his last time out, he allowed a run on six hits and struck out two in six innings of work while the Yankees dominated the A’s in a 13-4 win.
Los Angeles has struggled this season despite having two of the best players in the MLB in Shoei Ohtani and Mike Trout. The Angels are scoring just 3.82 runs per game which ranks 25th in the league in scoring offense. Mike Trout has dealt with injuries but is tied for the team lead with 28 home runs and when he’s out there, he still produces.
The right-handed Mike Mayers will get his second start of the year after working primarily as a long reliever this season. Mayers made his first start against the Rays just under a week ago, he allowed just two hits and struck out five in a scoreless five innings. He is used to getting extended action as a reliever, working through 34.1 innings in his 19 appearances this season.
Betting Trends for vs
Although New York hasn’t been able to keep their early season pace, the Yankees are still securely in the playoffs and should be able to beat up on an inferior opponent. Even with Trout and Ohtani both healthy and producing, this Angels team has been unable to win games. Jameson Taillon has been solid this season and against the struggling offense, he puts together a solid outing and leads the Yankees to a win. Final score prediction, Yankees win 4-3.
