Game Two of the American League Championship Series will take place on Thursday night, when the New York Yankees battle the Houston Astros from Minute Maid Park. The Yankees (99-63) finished three games above .500 on the road and won the AL East Division by seven games. Last night, New York was limited to five hits and struck out 16 times during a 4-2 road loss.

Twenty-eight year old righty Luis Severino (7-3 3.18 ERA) will take the mound for the Yankees in this matchup. In Game Three of the ALDS, Severino gave up eight hits and three runs during a 6-5 road loss against Cleveland.

The Houston Astros finished a league best 40 games above .500 overall and ran away with the AL West Division by 16 games. In last night's series opener, veteran Houston SP Justin Verlander fanned 11 batters across six frames to earn the win. 1B Yuri Gurriel and OF Chas McCormick hit solo home runs in the sixth inning to give the Astros a 3-1 lead. 

Houston manager Dusty Baker will turn to talented left-hander Framber Valdez (17-6 2.82 ERA) on Thursday. In Game Two of the ALDS, Valdez allowed two runs in five plus innings during a 4-2 home victory versus Seattle.

New York 2B D.J. Lemahieu is dealing with a toe injury and has been left off the roster for this series. Through 162 games, New York ranks 4th in OPS and 2nd in runs scored.
