In Saturday afternoon MLB action, the New York Mets will take on the Oakland Athletics from RingCentral Coliseum. Last night, 3B Eduardo Escobar's fifth inning grand slam gave New York a 7-0 lead during an easy road victory against Oakland. 

Two-time NL Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom (5-2 2.32 ERA) is the most dominant pitcher in the majors. Through 54 plus innings, deGrom has fanned 86 batters and owns a ridiculous 0.61 WHIP.

The Oakland Athletics have dropped 50 of their 75 home games and own the worst overall record in the American League. On Friday, Cole Irvin (9-12) was tagged for eight runs in four plus innings and took the loss. C Sean Murphy had a pair of hits and scored a run in a losing effort for the Athletics, who fell to 55-96 on the season.

Rookie left-hander Ken Waldichuk (0-2 7.13 ERA) will make his fifth career major league start. The Athletics have lost Waldichuk’s first four starts and he has surrendered ten runs over his last seven plus innings.
