The Sunday MLB schedule will conclude with a NL East Division showdown between the New York Mets and the Atlanta Braves. Last night, New York SP Max Scherzer (11-5) gave up four runs in five plus innings during a 4-2 road loss against Atlanta.

Thirty-three year old righty Chris Bassitt (15-8 3.27 ERA) has flourished in his first season in New York. Last time out, Bassitt allowed two runs in eight innings during a 9-2 road victory against Oakland. 

The Atlanta Braves have won 54 of their 80 home games and hold a one-game lead over New York for first place with four games remaining. On Saturday, SS Dansby Swanson put Atlanta ahead to stay with a two-run blast in the fifth inning. 1B Matt Olson added a solo shot and an RBI single for the Braves, who improved to 100-59 on the year.

Veteran right-hander Charlie Morton (9-6 4.29 ERA) continues to pitch well for the Braves at age thirty-eight. Through 167 plus innings, Morton has struck out 200 batters and owns a solid 1.20 WHIP.

New York 1B/OF Darin Ruf has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a neck strain. Through 158 games, New York ranks 7th in OPS and 4th in runs scored.
