Marlins Park will play host to a Saturday MLB NL East meeting between the Washington Nationals and the Miami Marlins. In the first game of Friday’s doubleheader, SP Erick Fedde (2-3) fanned six batters over six scoreless innings to lead Washington to a 5-0 victory. Yan Gomes had a pair of hits and scored twice for the Nationals (19-3), who are in last place in the division.

Talented left-hander Patrick Corbin (2-5 4.10 ERA) will head to the hill for the Nationals in this contest. Last time out, Corbin allowed two runs over seven strong innings during a 2-1 home loss versus Atlanta.

The Miami Marlins are two games above .500 overall and a half-game ahead of Philadelphia for second place. In the second game of Friday’s doubleheader Brian Anderson clubbed three home runs and drove in seven runs to power Miami to a 14-3 win. Lewis Brinson added three hits and scored twice for the Marlins (26-24).

Miami manager Don Mattingly will give the nod to twenty-four year old righty Pablo Lopez (4-4 4.02 ERA) on Saturday. In his last start, Lopez allowed one run over seven innings during a 6-2 home victory versus Philadelphia.

Washington OF Adam Eaton has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left index finger. Through 49 games, Washington ranks 13th in OPS and 19th in runs scored.
