Washington rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to capture the NL Wild Card game by a 4-3 final score against Milwaukee. Juan Soto cleared the bases with the clutch hit for the Nationals, who have won nine games in a row.
Thirty year old left-hander Patrick Corbin (14-7 3.25 ERA) will head to the hill for the Nationals on Thursday. Corbin was 4-1 with a 3.78 ERA in five September starts and struck out 45 batters in 33 plus innings.
The Los Angeles Dodgers won 106 games during the regular season and have clinched homefield advantage until the World Series. The Dodgers won seven straight games to set a franchise record for victories in a season and won the NL West Division by 21 games. Cody Bellinger leads Los Angeles with a .305 batting average to go along with 47 home runs and 115 RBIs.
The Dodgers will counter with talented right-hander Walker Buehler (14-4 3.26 ERA) in the series opener. In 182 plus innings this season, Buehler struck out 215 batters and owns a sparkling 1.04 WHIP.
