Thirty-one year old righty Tanner Roark (3-7 3.63 ERA) will take the mound for the Nationals in this matchup. Through 84 plus innings, Roark has fanned 70 batters and owns a solid 1.11 WHIP.
The Toronto Blue Jays have won the first two games of this series by a margin of three runs total. On Saturday, SP Marco Estrada (4-6) fanned four batters over six plus scoreless innings to outduel Scherzer. Devon Travis connected on a two-run homer to give the Blue Jays all the offense they would need on the afternoon.
Twenty-eight year old righty Sam Gaviglio (2-2 3.66 ERA) will get the nod for the Blue Jays on Sunday. Toronto has lost each of Gaviglio’s last three starts and he has allowed nine runs over his last 16 plus frames.
