Nationals at Astros 10/30/19 - MLB Playoffs Picks & Predictions

The 2019 World Series will come down to a winner-take-all scenario, when the Washington Nationals and the Houston Astros square off from Minute Maid Park on Wednesday night. The Nationals lost three straight games on their home field, but evened this series with a 7-2 road triumph last night. Anthony Rendon had three hits and drove in five runs to power Washington’s offense.

Three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (11-7 2.92 ERA) will take the ball for the Nationals on Wednesday. Washington has won each of Scherzer’s five postseason appearances and he has allowed six runs over 25 innings of work.

The Houston Astros won 60 home games during the regular season, but have yet to win on their home field in this best-of-seven series. On Tuesday, SP Justin Verlander gave up three runs in five innings and took the loss. Alex Bregman homered in a losing effort for the Astros, who managed just six hits on the night.

The Astros will counter with thirty-five year old righty Zack Greinke (18-5 2.93 ERA) in Game Seven. Greinke has struggled so far this postseason, giving up 22 hits and 11 runs across 18 plus frames.

Both teams come into this contest with no significant injuries to report. Through 162 regular season games, Washington ranked 6th in OPS and 6th in runs scored. For the regular season, Houston ranked 1st in OPS and 3rd in runs scored. Take the Astros to find a way to breakthrough at home and capture their second World Series title in the last three years. Final Score Prediction, Houston Astros win 4-3.
