The 89th MLB All-Star Game will return to the nation's capital, when the AL All-Stars look to continue their dominance over the NL All-Stars. The two teams have each won 43 games and two games have ended in ties, but the American League has won 23 of the last 30 games. Washington will host the game for the first time since 1969, when they were the Senators.

Los Angeles OF Mike Trout headlines the American League lineup. Trout ranks in the top ten in six major offensive categories and leads the league with 84 walks. Boston OF Mookie Betts leads the league in batting average, slugging percentage and OPS.

Twenty-nine year old southpaw Chris Sale (10-4 2.23 ERA) will make his third straight start for the American League. Sale is the first picther to start three straight games since the 1950s and ranks first in the league with 188 strikeouts. The National League All-Stars have heard plenty about the American League's dominance over the last three decades and will be determined to turn things around. Washington OF Bryce Harper has struggled with a .214 average, but still has managed to deliver 23 home runs and 54 RBIs. Chicago 2B Javier Baez leads the league with 72 RBIs and is quietly putting together an MVP caliber season.

Washington SP Max Scherzer (12-5 2.41 ERA) will oppose Sale for the second straight All-Star Game. Scherzer leads the league in wins, innings, strikeouts, and WHIP.

The American League lineup is loaded with power threats from top to bottom and will give the National League pitchers a difficult time on Tuesday night. Look for the American League to win in convincing fashion and for Mookie Betts to take home the MVP trophy. Final Score Prediction, AL All Stars win easy 6-2.
