Globe Life Park will play host to a Saturday afternoon MLB clash between the Minnesota Twins and the Texas Rangers. The Twins (47-39) have split their previous ten games and hold a five-game lead over Cleveland for the top spot in the AL Central Division. Last night, SS Carlos Correa and C Ryan Jeffers each went deep during a 6-5 road loss against Texas.

Twenty-six year old southpaw Devin Smeltzer (4-2 3.04 ERA) will head to the hill for the Twins in this contest. Last time out, Smeltzer gave up three runs in six innings during a 3-1 home loss versus Baltimore.

The Texas Rangers are two games under .500 at home and 15.5 games off the pace in the AL West Division race. On Friday, Texas scored all of their runs during the fifth inning which was capped by a three-run blast for SS Corey Seager. SP Jon Gray (5-4) allowed three runs in five plus innings to earn the win for the Rangers, who improved to 38-43 on the year.

Thirty-one year old lefty Martin Perez (7-2 2.34 ERA) is quietly putting together a nice season. The Rangers have won Perez’s previous five starts and he has allowed 14 runs over his last 30 plus frames.

Minnesota SP Chris Archer has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hip tightness. Through 86 games, Minnesota ranks 6th in OPS and 9th in runs scored.
