Minnesota Twins at St. Louis Cardinals 7/31/21 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Minnesota Twins play the second game of a three-game interleague series on the road Saturday against the St Louis Cardinals. Minnesota is 43-60 following a 17-14 slugfest loss to the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday. Minnesota has lost two straight and four of the last five and the Twins are last in the American League Central trailing the first place Chicago White Sox by 17 games.

Jorge Polanco is batting .266 to lead Minnesota and the shortstop has team highs in RBIs with 51 and hits with 96. Third baseman Josh Donaldson is the leader in on-base percentage at .359 and first baseman Miguel Sano is the leader in home runs with 17. On Saturday, Minnesota will send Bailey Ober to the mound. The right-hander is 1-1 with an ERA of 5.19, 45 Ks and 11 BBs.

St Louis is 51-51 following a 7-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday. St Louis has lost three of its last five and the Cardinals are third in the National League Central 9 ½ games behind the first-place Milwaukee Brewers. The Cardinals continue to struggle at the plate as St Louis has a .233 team batting average which is 24th in baseball.

Paul Goldschmidt is batting .268 to lead St Louis and the first baseman has a team high 104 hits. Third baseman Nolan Arenado is leading St Louis in home runs with 20 and RBIs with 61, while left fielder Dylan Carlson is  the leader in on-base percentages at .338. On Saturday, St Louis will send Jake Woodford to the mound. The right-hander is 2-2 with an ERA of 4.25, 29 Ks and 16 BBs.
