Oracle Park will play host to a Thursday MLB matinee between the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants. The Brewers (82-52) are a major league best 23 games above .500 on the road and hold a comfortable 10.5 game lead in the NL Central Division. Last night, OF Lorenzo Cain homered and drove in three runs to power Milwaukee to a 5-2 road victory.
Twenty-six year old lefty Eric Lauer (4-5 3.61 ERA) will make his 15th start of the season for the Brewers. Through 82 plus innings, Lauer has struck out 82 batters and owns a respectable 1.28 WHIP.
The San Francisco Giants are looking to snap a four-game losing skid and have fallen a half-game behind Los Angeles for the top spot in the NL West. During Wednesday's loss, San Francisco went 2-for-14 with runners in scoring position and struck out 13 times. Kris Bryant doubled twice and scored a run for the Giants, who fell to 84-49 on the season.
The Giants will counter with twenty-four year old righty Logan Webb (8-3 2.65 ERA) in the series finale. The Giants have won Webb’s last four starts and he has allowed just three runs over his last 26 plus frames.
