Milwaukee Brewers at Philadelphia Phillies 5/3/21 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Monday MLB schedule will get underway with a battle between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Philadelphia Phillies from Citizens Bank Park. The Brewers (17-11) took three out of four in Los Angeles over the weekend and lead St. Louis by one full game for the top spot in the NL Central Division. On Sunday, Milwaukee SP Alec Bettinger (0-1) surrendered 11 runs in four innings during a 16-4 loss.

Twenty-eight year old righty Adrian Houser (2-2 3.65 ERA) will take the mound for the Brewers in this matchup. Last time out, Houser allowed three runs in five plus innings during a 5-4 home victory versus Miami.

The Philadelphia Phillies have won nine of their first 15 home games and continue to have issues with the bullpen. Last night, two Philadelphia relievers combined to give up six runs in the eighth inning while recording just one out during an 8-7 home loss versus New York. SS Didi Gregorius hit a three-run blast for the Phillies, who stand at 14-14 overall.

The Phillies will give the nod to hard-throwing righty Vince Veasquez (0-0 6.57 ERA) in the series opener. Control has been an issue for Velasquez, who has issued 11 walks and surrendered four home runs in 12 plus innings.

Milwaukee OF Christian Yelich (back) and OF Lorenzo Cain (quad) are hopeful to return at some point during this series. Through 28 games, Milwaukee ranks 23rd in OPS and 20th in runs scored. For the season, Philadelphia ranks 21st in OPS and 26th in runs scored. Take the over on Monday. Final Score Prediction, Philadelphia Phillies win 7-6.
