Milwaukee Brewers at Cincinnati Reds 9/24/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Milwaukee Brewers play the third game of a four-game series on the road Saturday versus the Cincinnati Reds. Milwaukee improved to 80-70 following a 5-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday in the opening game of the series. Kolten Wong hit three home runs for Milwaukee and had all five RBIs. The Brewers are second in the National League Central, 7 ½ games behind first-place and are fourth in the NL wildcard race, 2 ½ games behind the third and final spot currently held by Philadelphia.

Left fielder Christian Yelich is batting .258 to lead Milwaukee and has team highs in hits with 138 and on-base percentage at .358. First baseman Rowdy Tellez is the leader in home runs with 32 and shortstop Willy Adames is the leader in RBIs with 95. On Saturday, the Milwaukee Brewers will send Corbin Burnes to the mound. Cincinnati dropped to 59-91 following its four-run loss to Milwaukee in the opening game of the series on Thursday. Cincinnati has lost five of the last seven. The Reds are 28th in team ERA at 4.81 and are 21st in runs scored with 623. Cincinnati is 28 ½ games behind first place in the National League Central and the Reds have been eliminated from postseason contention.

Shortstop Kyle Farmer is batting .258 to lead Cincinnati and has team highs in home runs with 13, RBIs with 71, hits with 125 and on-base percentage at .318. Second baseman Jonathan India is second in both home runs with 10 and RBIs with 39. On Saturday, the Cincinnati Reds will send Graham Ashcraft to the mound. The right-hander is 5-3 with a 3.97 ERA, 64 Ks and 23 BBs.

Milwaukee has lost 16 of the last 23 on the road. Milwaukee starter Corbin Burnes has had two consecutive poor outings allowing eight runs on 14 hits across 9 ⅔ innings resulting in a pair of losses for Milwaukee. This will be Cincinnati starter Graham Ashcraft’s first start since mid August, but on August 7, the right-hander allowed just one run on four hits across 5 ⅔ innings in a victory over Milwaukee.
