Milwaukee Brewers at Arizona Diamondbacks 9/1/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions
The Milwaukee Brewers will open up a west-coast road trip with a trip to Chase Field to take on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Milwaukee won two of three games against the Pirates, improving to 69-60 on the year, but remains 5.5 games back in the NL Central. The Diamondbacks are out of the chase for the playoffs but have had a solid season and after five straight wins improved to 61-67 on the year, a large improvement from last season.
Milwaukee is a top-10 offense in the MLB averaging 4.55 runs per game which is 8th in the MLB in scoring offense. Christian Yelich has really had a lot of struggles in the last couple of years, yet leads the Brewers in batting average among eligible players hitting .260 on the year. First baseman Rowdy Tellez leads the team with 27 home runs and has driven in 75 runs.
The right-handed Brandon Woodruff will get the start for the Brewers in what has been a dominant season for the veteran. Woodruff is 9-3 with a 3.31 ERA and 1.13 WHIP on the year but is coming off back-to-back dominant starts against the Cubs allowing two runs on eight hits and striking out 15 in his 11.2 combined innings.
Arizona has a middle-of-the-road offense that averages 4.33 runs per game, good for 16th in the league. As the team's leader in home runs (30) and RBIs (72), first baseman Christian Walker is having by far his best season since 2019, and even those records have been broken. Walker was ¾ with double and scored two runs in the 12-3 win over the Phillies.
The right-handed Merrill Kelly will get the start and hope to continue his career year where he is 11-5 with a 2.97 ERA and 1.13 WHIP, both of which are top-25 in the MLB this season. Kelly allowed four runs on five hits in his last outing but struck out seven and the Diamondbacks went on to beat the struggling White Sox 10-5.
Betting Trends for vs
The Diamondbacks are on a nice streak after sweeping the White Sox and winning the first two games of the series, back on their home field they’re able to continue that momentum. Even against Brandon Woodruff, we’re riding the hotter team and a team that has been solid at home all season. The offense has scored double-digits in three of their last four games and continues the streak with a win at home. Final score prediction, Diamondbacks win 4-3.
