On Monday, the Miami Marlins open a three-game series on the road against the St Louis Cardinals. Miami is 32-28 following its 5-3 loss to the New York Mets on Saturday. The Marlins have lost each of their first two games of a three-game series with New York and conclude that on Sunday. Miami is fourth in the National League East, 13 ½ games behind the first place Mets.

Second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr is the leader in home runs with 14 and RBIs with 45. On Monday, the Miami Marlins will send Pablo Lopez to the mound. St.Louis is 41-33 following its 5-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. Ivan Herrera collected the first RBI of his major league career with a sacrifice fly to break a tie in the eighth inning. St Louis snapped a two-game losing streak with a victory. The Cardinals are tied for first place in the National League Central with the Milwaukee Brewers, 10 ½ games ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

First baseman Paul Goldschmidt is batting .338 with 17 home runs, 61 RBIs, 90 hits and an on-base percentage of .422, which leads St Louis in each category. Nolan Arenado has 14 home runs and 48 RBIs which are both second only to Goldschmidt. On Monday, St Louis will send Adam Wainwright to the mound. St Louis has played well for the first half of the season but of late has struggled against right-handed starting pitchers, losing four out of the last five.
