Pablo Lopez will get the ball for Miami in his first start of the year after finishing the 2021 season 5-5 overall in 20 starts after giving up 35 earned runs to post a 3.07 ERA.

Miami had a rough spring this season finishing 7-7 after losing four of the last five games including three in a row after a 7-0 loss to St. Louis.  Elieser Hernandez got the start for Miami in the final game of the spring giving up no runs on no hits across 1 inning of work. Richard Bleier came on in relief giving up two runs on three hits across one inning of work leading to the loss before the bullpen continued to struggle allowing five more runs on eight hits to close out the game.

The San Francisco Giants head into the regular season after finishing spring training on a hot streak winning three of the final five games played. San Francisco finished the spring with a 7-7 after issues from their starter Alex Wood. Wood allowed seven runs on nine hits across 3.1 innings of work resulting in a no decision. The San Francisco bullpen was tremendous giving up no runs on three hits over the final 5.2 innings resulting in the tie.

Offensively San Francisco hit the ball well going 12-38 in the game to score seven runs including three in the bottom of the ninth inning. Jacob Heyward had a big day for the Giants going 1-2 on the day to drive in two runs. San Francisco got a balanced scoring attack from the rest of the team as five different giants drove in one run each.

The Giants are the better team in this matchup and have a much better pitcher on the mound. Look for San Francisco to control this game from the opening pitch on Saturday leading to the victory in game two of the season. Take San Francisco to do enough on their home field to get the win over Miami. Final Score Prediction, San Francisco wins 6-3.
