Miami Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies 6/15/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Wednesday MLB schedule will get underway with a battle between the Miami Marlins and the Philadelphia Phillies from Citizens Bank Park. The Marlins (28-32) have won seven of their previous ten games and are 11.5 games off the pace in the NL East Division race. Last night, DH Jesus Aguilar delivered a two-run double in the ninth inning to lift Miami to an 11-9 road victory against Philadelphia.

Twenty-six year old righty Pablo Lopez (4-2 2.30 ERA) is quietly having a nice season for the Marlins. Through 70 plus innings, Lopez has struck out 72 batters and owns a sparkling 1.02 WHIP.

The Philadelphia Phillies have won eight of their last ten games and trail NL East Division leading New York by 9.5 games. On Tuesday, Philadelphia RP Corey Knebel (2-5) surrendered three runs in the ninth inning and failed to record an out. 1B Rhys Hoskins homered twice and drove in six runs in a losing effort for the Phillies (31-31).

The Phillies will turn to thirty-four year old righty Kyle Gibson (4-2 4.41 ERA) in the series finale. Last time out, Gibson allowed three runs in six innings during a 7-5 home victory versus Arizona.

Miami IF Joey Wendle (hamstring) has begun a running progression and is expected back before the end of the month. Through 60 games, Miami ranks 15th in OPS and 16th in runs scored. For the season, Philadelphia ranks 6th in OPS and 6th in runs scored. Take the under. Philadelphia Phillies win 4-2.
