Miami Marlins at New York Mets 6/20/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Monday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Miami Marlins and the New York Mets from Citi Field. The Marlins (29-35) have dropped 21 of their first 35 road games and are 13 games behind the first place Mets. On Sunday, OF Jerar Encarnacion crushed a grand slam to power Miami to a 6-2 road victory against New York.

Twenty-four year old lefty Trevor Rogers (3-5 5.87 ERA) has been unable to replicate last season’s success. Control has been a major issue for Rogers, who has walked 28 batters through 53 plus innings.

The New York Mets are 13 games above .500 at home and own the best overall record in the National League. During yesterday’s loss, New York batters went 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. SP Chris Bassitt (5-5) gave up three runs in six plus innings and took the loss for the Mets (44-24).

New York manager Buck Showalter will give the nod to left-hander David Peterson in the series finale. Last time out, Peterson gave up four runs in four innings during a 10-2 home loss versus Milwaukee.

New York SP Jacob deGrom (shoulder) threw two simulated innings on Friday and hopes to make his season debut next month. Through 64 games, Miami ranks 15th in OPS and 17th in runs scored. For the season, New York ranks 6th in OPS and 1st in runs scored. Take the over. Final Score Prediction, New York Mets win 6-4.
