The New York Mets play their second game at Coors Field on Tuesday in their current series against the Colorado Rockies.
The Mets on Sunday, prior to heading to Colorado, won their second straight over the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3. Asdrubal Cabrera and Brandon Nimmo hit home runs for the Mets during a ninth inning in which the Mets scored four times to rally and defeat the D-Backs.
Colorado lost for the second straight game and third in its last four on Sunday 13-12 to the Texas Rangers. Wade Davis the Rockies closer was only able to retire one batter he faced as he walked four and gave up a pair of singles to take the loss. This was the fourth time Davis has blown a save for Colorado in 24 chances.
Asdrubal Cabrera leads the Mets with a .270 batting average and team highs in hits with 70, home runs with 12 and RBIs with 37. New York has a team batting average of .226 while opposing hitters are averaging .252 at the plate against Mets pitching. On Tuesday, the Mets will send Jason Vargas to the mound. The left-hander this season is 2-5 with an ERA of 7.39, 32 Ks and 14 BBs.
Nolan Arenado leads the Rockies with a .310 batting average and a team high 76 hits. Trevor Story leads the team in home runs with 15 and in RBIs with 54. Colorado has a team batting average of .248 while opposing hitters are averaging .261 at the plate against Rockies pitching. On Tuesday, the Rockies will send German Marquez to the mound. The right-hander this season is 4-7 with an ERA of 5.13, 74 Ks and 30 BBs.
