Mets at Pirates 8/3/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Mets are trying to find themselves as a contender, but it will be a stretch in this game. However, the Mets are definitely a team that can be taken seriously at times. However, what is interesting is the Mets starter in this game is one who they acquired not long before the trade deadline. So it is interesting to see how the Mets are going to play the game here.

The Pirates, for their part have really had some issues in getting the wins locked down. What else does not help the Pirates is they have started to fall further behind the Reds in the game here. However, the Pirates are a team that can pull out some shocking wins if they have to on the year and that could help them out quite a bit in this game. Chris Archer is the pitcher the Pirates are planning on putting on the mound in this game. Archer has been able to post a 3-8 record and a 5.58 ERA on the year. He has thrown a total of 101.2 innings this year with 116 strikeouts, but has walked 51 batters while allowing 95 hits.

Marcus Stroman is the pitcher the Mets recently traded for and he is starting in this game for the Mets. This year Stroman has thrown well enough to get a 6-11 record, but has a 2.96 ERA on the year so far. He has struck out 99 batters on the year so far and that is going to help him in this game, but what else helps is the fact that he is a relatively unknown to the National League this year.

The Mets are a team that made a trade for Stroman, which is odd for a team that is not really competing this year. However, Stroman is a lot better than Archer in this game and that will make the difference in this game as Stroman is able to shut down the Pirate offense in this game rather easily. Final Score Prediction, New York Mets win 7-3.
