The Washington Nationals were expected to run away with the NL East Division, but have not gotten going this season. The Nationals dropped the final two games of their series in Miami and managed just one run total. Washington is a game below .500 overall and trails Philadelphia by six full games for first place.

Thirty-one year old righty Tanner Roark (4-12 4.55 ERA) may have turned the corner in his last start, Roark struck out 11 batters and allowed just three hits across eight frames during a 7-3 victory at Milwaukee.
