Last Updated: 08/20/2019 at 8:17 AM ET

In Saturday afternoon MLB action, the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants continue their four-game series from AT&T Park. Last night, New York managed just three hits during a 1-0 loss in ten innings. SP Jacob deGrom struck out ten batters over seven shutout innings and did not factor in the decision for the Mets, who fell to nine games below .500 overall.

Twenty-five year old righty Walker Lockett (0-1 11.74 ERA) will make his third start of the season for the Mets. Through 22 plus career major league innings, Lockett has walked 13 batters and owns an ugly 1.99 WHIP. The San Francisco Giants have won 15 of their last 18 games and have reached the .500 overall mark for the first time this season. On Friday, pinch runner Alex Dickerson scored the winning run on an error by New York OF Dominic Smith. SP Tyler Beede struck out five batters over eight shutout frames for the Giants, who are suddenly just two games off the pace for the final NL Wild Card spot.

The Giants will counter with veteran right-hander Jeff Samardzija (7-7 3.93 ERA) on Saturday. Samardzija is riding a three-start winning streak and has allowed just four runs over his last 21 plus frames.

New York SP Zack Wheeler has been placed on the 10-day injured list with shoulder fatigue. Through 97 games, New York ranks 16th in OPS and 18th in runs scored. For the season, San Francisco ranks 27th in OPS and 21st in runs scored. Look for both offenses to get back on track. Final Score Prediction, San Francisco Giants win 6-5.
