Mets at Braves 6/13/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Wednesday afternoon MLB schedule will get underway with a meeting between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves from SunTrust Park. Last night, the Mets managed just three hits during an 8-2 loss against the Braves. New York has lost nine of their last ten games and have fallen 8.5 games behind Atlanta for the NL East Division lead.

Twenty-nine year old righty Jacob deGrom (4-1 1.57 ERA) is pitching like a Cy Young Award winner without the run support. New York has lost eight of deGrom’s last ten starts and he has allowed just eight runs total over that stretch. The Atlanta Braves were thrilled to return home after winning just two games on their most recent six-game West Coast trip. On Tuesday, Ozzie Albies put the game out of reach with a sixth inning grand slam. Nick Markakis collected three hits and drove in a run for the Braves, who lead Washington by one full game for first place.

The Braves will counter with rookie right-hander Michael Soroka (1-1 3.68 ERA) on Wednesday. Through 14 plus innings, Soroka has struck out 15 batters and been tagged for 21 hits.

New York OF Yoenis Cespedes (hip, quad) will head back to Florida to restart his rehab program. Through 63 games, New York ranks 26th in batting average and 28th in runs scored. For the season, Atlanta ranks 4th in batting average and 4th in runs scored. Look for deGrom to pitch the Mets to a much needed win on Wednesday. Final Score Prediction, New York Mets win 4-1.
