Marlins at Phillies 9/14/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

NL East Division foes will clash on Friday night, when the Miami Marlins travel to Citizens Bank Park to square off against the Philadelphia Phillies. On Thursday, the Marlins lost both games of a doubleheader in New York. In the opening game, Miami RP Kyle Barraclough served up back-to-back solo shots in the ninth inning of a 4-3 walkoff loss.

Thirty-three year old southpaw Wei-Yin Chen (6-10 4.72 ERA) will head to the hill for the Marlins in this contest. Last time out, Chen gave up five hits and three runs in four innings during a 5-1 loss at Pittsburgh. The Philadelphia Phillies have been one of the most surprising teams in the majors, but have faded over the last month. The Phillies were swept at home by the Nationals this week and have lost five straight games overall. On Wednesday, Philadelphia managed just five hits during a 5-1 loss and dropped 7.5 games out of first place.

The Phillies will counter with twenty-four year old righty Zach Eflin (9-7 4.42 ERA) on Friday night. Philadelphia has lost each of Eflin’s last four starts and he has given up 16 runs in his last 16 plus frames.

Philadelphia 3B Maikel Franco (shoulder) was not in Wednesday’s lineup and is listed as day-to-day. Through 146 games, Miami ranks 25th in batting average and 30th in runs scored. For the season, Philadelphia ranks 29th in batting average and 21st in runs scored. Take the Marlins to send the Phillies to their sixth straight defeat. Final Score Prediction, Miami Marlins win 5-3.
