The Friday night MLB schedule will get underway with an interleague matchup between the Miami Marlins and Baltimore Orioles from Camden Yards. On Thursday, the Marlins saw their three-game winning streak snapped during a 6-3 loss against San Francisco in 16 innings. Miami is 17 games below .500 overall and in last place in the NL East Division.
Twenty-six year old righty Jose Urena (1-8 4.59 ERA) has pitched much better than his record indicates. Through 80 plus innings, Urena has struck out 66 batters and owns a 1.22 WHIP.
The Baltimore Orioles have dropped 48 of their first 67 games and are the only team in the majors that has not won their 20th game. The Orioles were swept at home against Boston by a 13-5 combined score over the three games. On Wednesday, Baltimore managed just four hits during a 5-1 loss, which was their seventh straight defeat.
The Orioles will counter with hard-throwing righty Kevin Gausman (3-5 4.58 ERA) in the series opener. Gausman is winless in his last five starts and he has given up 21 runs over his last 25 plus frames.
