Marlins at Nationals 9/26/18 - MLB Picks & Predictions

NL East Division foes will clash on Wednesday afternoon, when the Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals wrap up their three-game set. Last night, SP Jeff Brigham walked four batters and allowed three runs in four innings of a 9-4 loss. Peter O’Brien homered and drove in two runs for the Marlins, who lost their 95th game.

Thirty-three year old southpaw Wei-Yin Chen (6-11 4.66 ERA) will take the mound for the Marlins. Last time out, Chen struck out eight batters and allowed three hits during a 1-0 victory versus Cincinnati. The Washington Nationals have won the first two games of this series and have scored 16 runs in the process. On Tuesday, SP Max Scherzer struck out ten batters and became the 17th pitcher since 1900 to eclipse 300 strikeouts in a season. Anthony Rendon had three hits and drove in four runs for the Nationals, who are two games above .500 overall.

The Nationals will counter with thirty-one year old righty Tanner Roark (9-15 4.34 ERA) on Wednesday. Through 180 plus innings, Roark has given up 24 home runs and owns a respectable 1.28 WHIP.

Miami 3B Martin Prado has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with a right abdominal strain. Through 157 games, Miami ranks 26th in batting average and 30th in runs scored. For the season, Washington ranks 12th in batting average and 9th in runs scored. Take Miami to steal the final game as a nicely priced underdog. Final Score Prediction, Miami Marlins win in upset 5-3.
