Nationals Park will play host to a Tuesday night MLB clash between the Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals. Last night, SP Sandy Alcantara was tagged for six runs in four innings of a 7-3 defeat. Peter O’Brien had two hits and scored a run for the Marlins, who lost their 51st game on the road this season.

Rookie right-hander Jeff Brigham (0-3 5.84 ERA) will make his fourth career major league start for the Marlins. Control has been an issue for Brigham, who has walked nine batters through his first 12 plus innings. The Washington Nationals have split their last ten games and are a game below .500 at home this season. Anthony Rendon connected on a three-run shot as part of a power surge from the Nationals. Matt Wieters and Juan Soto also went deep for Washington, who has been eliminated from postseason contention.

Cy Young Award candidate Max Scherzer (17-7 2.57 ERA) will take the mound for the Nationals on Tuesday. Scherzer, who started the All-Star Game, ranks first in the National League in wins and strikeouts.

Miami 3B Martin Prado has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with a right abdominal strain. Through 156 games, Miami ranks 26th in batting average and 30th in runs scored. For the season, Washington ranks 12th in batting average and 9th in runs scored. Look for the over to cash for a second straight night. Final Score Prediction, Washington Nationals win high scoring over game 6-4.
