Marlins at Nationals 7/2/19 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Tuesday MLB schedule will get underway with a matchup between the Miami Marlins and Washington Nationals from the nation’s capital. The Marlins have won six of their previous ten games and have played better on the road this season. On Sunday, Miami failed in their attempt at sweeping visiting Philadelphia by a 13-6 final score. Brian Anderson tripled and scored twice for the Marlins, who suffered their 50th loss overall.

Rookie right-hander Zac Gallen (0-1 3.60 ERA) will make his third career major league start for the Marlins. Through ten innings, Gallen has struck out ten batters and owns a respectable 1.30 WHIP. The Washington Nationals have won seven of their last ten contests and are climbing back into the NL East Division race. On Sunday, Washington SP Max Scherzer struck out 14 batters across eight strong innings during a 2-1 road victory against Detroit. Anthony Rendon scored both runs for the Nationals, who trail the Braves by seven games for first place.

Twenty-nine year old southpaw Patrick Corbin (7-5 3.71 ERA) has been solid if not spectacular in his first season with the Nationals. Corbin has won consecutive starts and has given up just two runs over his last 14 frames.

Miami IF Martin Prado is currently on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain. Through 82 games, Miami ranks 30th in OPS and 29th in runs scored. For the season, Washington ranks 16th in OPS and 14th in runs scored. Take the Nationals to stay red-hot and win behind another strong outing from Corbin. Final Score Prediction, Washington Nationals win 6-2.
