The Marlins won the opening game of the series on Friday 2-0 for their third win in four games. Dan Straily pitched seven shutout innings for the Marlins while catcher J.T. Realmuto tripled to knock in a run. The loss was Atlanta second in its last three games. Straily gave up three hits, while striking out six and walking three, successfully shutting down the top-scoring offense in the National League. Straily beat Atlanta last week in his previous start. The Braves began Friday’s game with the best record in the National League.
Starlin Castro leads the Marlins with a .301 batting average and team high 50 hits. Justin Bour is the team leader in home runs with nine and RBIs with 23.
