Marlins at Blue Jays 8/11/20 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Tuesday MLB schedule will get underway with an interleague clash between the Miami Marlins and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Marlins have won seven of their first ten games and sit atop the NL East Division standings. On Sunday, Miami batted just 2-for-10 with RISP during a 4-2 road loss against New York.

Twenty-five year old righty Elieser Hernandez (0-0 0.00 ERA) will make his second start of the season for the Marlins. Through 152 plus career major league innings, Hernandez has surrendered an alarming 31 long balls.

The Toronto Blue Jays have dropped eight of their first 13 games and are currently in last place in the competitive AL East Division. This will be the first game for Toronto at Buffalo’s Sahlen Field, which will serve as their home park this season. On Sunday, 2B Cavan Biggio and SS Bo Bichette hit solo home runs during a 5-3 loss at Boston.

Opening Day starter Hyun-Jin Ryu (1-1 5.14 ERA) will get the nod for the Blue Jays on Tuesday. Last time out, Ryu struck out eight batters across five shutout innings during a 2-1 victory at Atlanta.

Toronto RP Ken Giles (forearm) is currently on the 10-day injured list and is expected to pitch again relatively soon. Through 10 games, Miami ranks 13th in OPS and 26th in runs scored. Toronto comes into this game with an offense that ranks 26th in OPS and 28th in runs scored. Take the Marlins as a nicely priced underdog to spoil Toronto’s Buffalo debut. Final Score Prediction, Miami Marlins 5-3.
