Los Angeles Angels at Toronto Blue Jays 8/27/22 - MLB Picks & Predictions

The Saturday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Los Angeles Angels and the Toronto Blue Jays from the Rogers Centre. The Angels (53-73) have dropped nine of their last 11 games and are one of the most disappointing teams in baseball. Last night, Los Angeles OF Mike Trout hit his 27th home run of the season and OF Jo Adell went deep twice during a 12-0 road triumph against Toronto.

Twenty-eight year old righty Shohei Ohtani (10-8 2.83 ERA) continues to amaze with his unique skill set. Through 121 innings of work, Ohtani has struck out 167 batters and owns a solid 1.10 WHIP.

The Toronto Blue Jays are ten games above .500 at home and are locked in a tightly contested American League Wild Card race. On Friday, Toronto batters combined to go 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. SP Mitch White (1-4) was roughed up for seven runs in five innings and took the loss for the Blue Jays (68-56).

The Blue Jays will give the nod to All-Star righty Alek Manoah (12-6 2.66 ERA) on Saturday. Toronto has lost Manoah’s last three starts and he has given up nine runs (8 ER) over his last 16 plus frames.

Los Angeles 1B Jared Walsh will miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. Through 126 games, Los Angeles ranks 26th in OPS and 25th in runs scored. For the season, Toronto ranks 5th in OPS and 6th in runs scored. Take the Angels to win on the road. Final Score Prediction, Los Angeles Angels win 5-2.
