Citizens Bank Park will play host to a Sunday afternoon MLB matchup between the Los Angeles Angels and the Philadelphia Phillies. The Angels (27-27) are in the midst of a ten-game losing streak and have fallen 7.5 games behind AL West Division leading Houston. Last night, Los Angeles SP Michael Lorenzen (5-3) gave up five runs in five plus innings during a 7-2 road loss against Philadelphia. 

Twenty five year old southpaw Patrick Sandoval (3-1 2.70 ERA) will take the mound for the Angels in this matchup. Through 43 plus frames, Sandoval has yet to allow a home run and has fanned 42 batters.

The Philadelphia Phillies fired manager Joe Girardi and they are looking to climb back into the NL East Division race. On Saturday, Philadelphia SP Zack Wheeler (4-3) struck out nine batters and allowed two runs in six innings to earn the win. C J.T. Realmuto collected three doubles and scored a pair of runs for the Phillies, who improved to 24-29 on the year.

The Phillies will counter with veteran right-hander Kyle Gibson (3-2 3.83 ERA) in the series finale. Philadelphia has dropped Gibson’s last three starts and he has given up six runs over his last 16 plus innings.
