Last Updated: 05/30/2023 at 10:59 PM ET

Guaranteed Rate Field will play host to a Wednesday afternoon MLB clash between the Los Angeles Angels and the Chicago White Sox. The Angels (29-27) have split their first 28 road games and trail AL East Division leading Texas by seven full games. Last night, Los Angeles DH Shohei Ohtani and OF Taylor Ward each went deep during a 7-3 road loss against Chicago.

Twenty-six year old righty Jaime Barria (1-2 1.55 ERA) will make his second start of the season for the Angels. Barria, who has pitched primarily in relief this season, has struck out 28 batters and allowed two home runs across 29 frames.

The Chicago White Sox have been one of the most disappointing teams in baseball through the first two months of the season and are 6.5 games back in the AL Central Division race. On Tuesday, 1B Andrew Vaughn put Chicago ahead to stay with a bases clearing double. 2B Romy Gonzalez homered and scored twice for the White Sox (23-34), who improved to 13-14 at home.

The White Sox will turn to thirty-six year old righty Lance Lynn (4-5 5.83 ERA) on Wednesday. Chicago has won four out of Lynn’s last five starts and he has allowed just four runs over his last 19 innings of work.

Los Angeles 3B Anthony Rendon (groin) took part in defensive drills before Monday’s game and is getting close to returning to the lineup. Through 56 games, Los Angeles ranks 9th in OPS and 9th in runs scored. For the season, Chicago ranks 27th in OPS and 19th in runs scored. Take the over. Final Score Prediction, Chicago White Sox win 6-5.
